The Bigger Purpose: Serving Beyond Ourselves

In life, we are all on individual paths, each with unique responsibilities and callings. Yet, as we walk our own roads, we must remember that we are also part of a much larger, interconnected web of existence. Our true purpose extends beyond personal fulfillment—it lies in our ability to uplift others, to offer a hand and guide those willing to walk alongside us.

For me, my role as a guardian of my dogs’ health and well-being is not just a personal mission; it’s a profound responsibility. My goal has always been to ensure my poodles live vibrant, healthy, and long lives. However, I’ve realized that it’s not enough to focus solely on my own dogs. The greater calling is to share what I’ve learned, to help others care for their companions with the same level of dedication and love. After all, someone once helped me, and I believe in paying that forward without hesitation.

If you rise in life, don’t rise alone. Reach back, extend your hand, and bring someone with you. This philosophy is particularly important in the world of dog breeding and competitive showing—a space where the drive for success can sometimes blind us to the bigger picture. It’s all too easy to fall into the mindset where another’s failure becomes a moment for our own celebration. But this is precisely where we must rise above pettiness, greed, and vanity.

In dog shows, especially, the focus can shift from the well-being of our animals to the pursuit of trophies and titles. We become so enclosed in our competitive bubbles that we forget what truly matters: the betterment of the breed and the longevity of our beloved companions. This isn’t just about personal accolades; it’s about preserving the integrity, health, and vitality of the poodle as a breed.

We should not view dog shows as a zero-sum game where one person’s success means another’s defeat. Instead, they should serve as opportunities for growth and unity, where each competitor pushes the other to be better, not just for themselves but for the poodles they are raising, protecting, and nurturing. At the end of the day, it’s not about the ribbons or the applause—it’s about being able to shake hands with a fellow breeder, knowing that we are all contributing to a shared mission: improving the lives of the dogs we love.

If we can step away from the narrow lens of competition and embrace a collective vision, we can transform not just the way we approach dog shows but the way we care for the breed. We must remain humble, always striving for excellence not as a means of personal gain but as a way to safeguard the future of our poodles. This is the bigger purpose—one that transcends individual success and touches the lives of everyone who shares in the responsibility of breeding, raising, and caring for these magnificent animals.

To lose sight of this is to lose sight of what truly matters. We are not here to compete in isolation, but to collaborate, to push ourselves and others toward a higher standard of care. The miracles we create are not ours alone—they are shared blessings, made possible by the hands we extend to others.

In the end, true success is measured not by how high we rise but by how many we help along the way. If we are to fulfill our purpose fully, we must be present not only to serve our own goals but to become vessels through which the lives of others, and the animals we cherish, are transformed. Let’s rise above, together, for the poodles we protect and for the greater good of the breed.

At the heart of everything we do, our dogs depend on us. They depend on us to be their advocates, their protectors, and their guides through life. Their health, happiness, and longevity are a reflection of the care we provide. But this is not a responsibility any of us can—or should—carry alone. It takes a community, a unified effort, to ensure that our beloved companions live the lives they deserve.

I invite each and every one of you to join me in this journey. Let’s not only strive for the betterment of our own dogs but extend that knowledge and support to others. Let’s create a network of trust, compassion, and shared wisdom. When we reach out to help one another, we elevate the entire community and, most importantly, we give our dogs the best chance at thriving.

In the end, it’s not about the accolades or the victories; it’s about the lives we touch, the breeds we protect, and the legacy we leave behind for future generations of dogs and dog lovers. Together, we can make a difference—one poodle, one conversation, one act of kindness at a time.

Our dogs depend on us. And we, in turn, depend on each other. So let’s rise, let’s reach out, and let’s build something extraordinary—for the love of our dogs, and for the future we owe them.
